Check-in/hotline volunteers serve clients in the residential program at Safe Haven. Volunteer duties for this position include working the security/intercom system, managing the check-in office, interacting with residents, and answering hotline calls. This is a great position for anyone considering entering the helping profession or would like to learn more about working in the field of domestic violence. Training is provided for all volunteers interested in serving in this position. Confidentiality and reliability are vital to this volunteer opportunity.
Childcare providers serve the clients of Safe Haven by providing children’s programming while mothers attend support groups. Duties include working with a Safe Haven staff member to maintain general supervision over the children, while facilitating fun and educational activities. This is a great position for anyone who enjoys working with children and wants to learn more about the effects of domestic abuse on children. Some experience working with children required. Must be reliable. Confidentiality is a necessity.
Transportation providers serve the clients of Safe Haven by transporting clients one day a week to and from appointments in a Safe Haven vehicle. Another opportunity is picking up donations from the office and bring them to the shelter. Transportation providers are required to complete a background check and attend a Domestic Violence Seminar. Time commitment is once per week for up to three hours.
Available for families, Bible studies, mothers’ groups, or other groups to help with yard work, painting, and other tasks needed around the shelter.
