JOB TITLE: Grants and Communications Manager
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Development
HOURS: Full-time, non-exempt position; 40 hours/week
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Grants and Communications Manager will set and guide the strategy for all organizational communications, website and collateral to articulate Safe Haven Ministries’ mission, and will also be responsible for grant research, writing, and reporting.
Safe Haven Ministries—a nonprofit organization located in Grand Rapids, Michigan—believes in a multi-faceted approach to serving victims/survivors of domestic violence and preventing domestic violence in our community. Safe Haven offers comprehensive residential and non-residential services; confidential emergency shelter for individuals and families fleeing domestic violence; psycho-educational support groups; individual case management and advocacy; and primary prevention training and outreach for the entire community.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Communications – Responsible for managing and driving the implementation of an effective outreach and communication campaign to educate and cultivate diverse community support, including:
Collaboratively develop and implement Safe Haven Ministries’ annual communication plan
Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, event collateral, annual report, website and social media
Manage story-telling that reflects the mission, vision and values of Safe Haven Ministries
Grant Writing & Fundraising – Responsible for organizing and writing grant proposals for unrestricted operating revenue, restricted funding, and state/federal funding, and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.
Research, organize and ensure that the agency’s grant and foundation schedule is adhered to, making
adjustments as needed to meet emerging agency need
Complete timely grant reporting requirements as required by funders
Coordinate with Director of Development to provide on-going stewardship to current donors, including written communication with impact stories and photographs
Manage annual appeal process, utilizing donor software to assist with establishing annual fundraising goals
Maintain detailed records in donor database
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED OR PREFERRED
3-6 years’ experience managing and executing across mutli-channel communication strategies
Strong writing/editing and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage and meet deadlines
Demonstrated experience with proposal writing
Knowledge of grant research techniques
Creative problem solver
Strong interpersonal skills required
Ability to work independently & be flexible on the job
Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, outside clients, donors, and vendors
Sensitivity to confidentiality required
