Intervention Services Coordinator

Supervised By:  Director of Client Services

Hours & Status:  Full-time, Non-exempt; M-F 8AM-5PM with flexibility; on-call responsibilities; occasional non-traditional hours.

Salary & Benefits: $19.00 – $22.00; generous PTO; 11 Paid holidays; health, vision and dental benefits and HSA with employee match; Simple IRA with employee contribution.


Safe Haven Ministries is seeking a skilled and ambitious advocate with excellent relationship building skills, who has a desire to enhance victim services through direct service and working across community systems. The Intervention Services Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the agency’s 24/7 domestic violence crisis response program; ensuring best practices for hotline, walk-in and web-based crisis response. Additionally, the Intervention Services Coordinator will support community systems change efforts in identifying system barriers and supporting agency initiatives to address access barriers for survivors.

A successful candidate will have experience with crisis management and demonstrated success researching and analyzing effective community response to violence. This role will add to our skilled team of victim services professionals who share a dedication to serving and enhancing the voices of survivors of relationship abuse, human trafficking and exploitation, while also working to prevent violence before it begins.

Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.


Safe Haven Ministries—a nonprofit organization located in Grand Rapids, Michigan—believes in a multi-faceted approach to serving victims/survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking while also working to prevention violence in our community. Safe Haven offers comprehensive residential and non-residential services; confidential emergency shelter for individuals and families; psycho-educational support groups; individual case management and advocacy; and primary prevention training and outreach for the entire community.


  • Provide trauma informed and comprehensive hotline assessment, advocacy, support, and referral services to all clients as appropriate and in conjunction with other direct service staff
  • In coordination with the direct services team develop and implement ongoing best practices for crisis intervention procedures, client documentation, training and evaluation
  • Participate in community groups and committees focused on improving barriers that victims encounter in obtaining safety and justice
  • Strengthen community partnerships to enhance supports and quality of victim interventions
  • In coordination with Program Directors, plan systems change efforts to fulfill the mission and goals of the agency philosophy
  • Provide input on the design and implementation of crisis program evaluation and assessment tools; ensure the regular collection of client surveys; routinely assess and evaluate program models as it relates to client feedback and trauma-informed best practices
  • Share on-call responsibilities
  • Observe professional confidentiality; protect the rights of clients and their families and observe the Safe Haven Ministries Code of Ethics at all times
  • Attend and participate in program meetings, weekly staff meetings, individual supervisions, staff in-services, and other meetings as assigned
  • Attend conferences and seminars to enhance knowledge and resources in the fields of social work and domestic violence


  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or closely related field from an accredited university preferred. Relevant experience in victim services and community change efforts will be considered in lieu of formal education
  • Bilingual candidates strongly preferred
  • Specific training in intimate partner violence, crisis response and trauma required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a willingness to work with community partners.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of substance use and dependency, mental illness, human behavior, family systems and harm reduction strategies
