Prevention vs. Risk Reduction

Prevention: stopping domestic and sexual violence before it happens.

Risk Reduction: reacting to the threat of violence.

Safe Haven focuses on prevention because violence is preventable, violence does not exist in silo, and violence is a learned behavior. Research supports the fact that prevention education is at the forefront of preventing violent acts.

Our Prevention & Education team work hard within our community to provide ample services to high school and middle school students, higher education institutions, businesses, social service and healthcare organizations, and faith communities.
