On July 7, 2011, Kamrie Heeren was taken from this world in an act of domestic violence, along with her courageous mother, Jenny Heeren.
Kamrie was an extraordinary 12 year old girl. Much like her mother, Kamrie’s beauty radiated from the inside out. She loved reading, swimming, playing soccer, and doing photography. Kamrie will always be remembered as a bright light to the lives of people that knew her. She will continue to be an inspiration to every life she touched.
Wanting to bring awareness to this issue, the Heeren family partnered with Safe Haven Ministries to create the Running For Jenny team. As Running For Jenny enters its fifth year, the team has decided to honor Kamrie by honoring children in similar situations.
On April 7th 2016, the Running For Jenny team will host “Kamrie’s Butterfly Dash” at their kickoff event. The team will join together in a 2 mile walk, followed by a run designed especially for kids. Kamrie’s Butterfly Dash is a way for children to connect to the movement and be a beacon of hope to our community. They will also have the opportunity to raise funds through pledges that will be donated to Safe Haven. Safe Haven offers shelter, support groups and programming for children who have experienced abuse.
We would love for you to consider joining us at Kamrie’s Butterfly Dash. Together we can be a powerful voice for those suffering from abuse.
