Young Leaders Against Violence

Young Leaders Against Violence (YLAV) is a local youth-led coalition focused on dating and sexual abuse awareness and helping to prevent it. Being a part of YLAV provides the opportunity to be a leader and energize our community to take a stand against violence. By centering the voices of our youth we are empowering them to take charge of the futures they want to envision.

Young Leaders Against Violence is made up of Kent County highschoolers (9th-12th grade).

The application for Young Leaders Against Violence for the 2020 year are open and close August 28th.

One in four teens experience aggression in their dating relationships. This violence doesn’t have to happen. You can stop it by joining Young Leaders Against Violence—a young adult advisory council focused on raising awareness and empowering the community to prevent violence in relationships.

The group meets twice a month to brainstorm and implement various outreach projects ranging from community events to school displays and social media campaigns. Participants earn cash and gift cards in addition to developing valuable knowledge and practical tools all while engaging in advocacy efforts with other Kent County youth leaders.

Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm. Dinner and bus tickets are provided.
