Recognizing Domestic Abuse in the Workplace.

How could relationship abuse and harm take work away from businesses in West Michigan? Based on the research, here’s what Safe Haven Ministries would project for companies that partner with us:

  • Byrne Electric in Rockford has 350 employees, Over the course of their lifetimes, roughly 84 of them will experience relationship abuse (CDC, 2016).
  • Windquest Group in Grand Rapids has 57 employees; roughly 13 of them will experience stalking over the course of their lifetime (SPARC, 2021)
  • Hastings Mutual in Hastings has 500 employees; roughly 107 of them will experience a sexual assault over their lifetime (NSAC, 2023)

Not only does violence have a significant impact on an employee, it also affects employee morale, absenteeism, work performance and potentially impacts your bottom line – this is everyone’s business and your business has an opportunity to better serve your employees with a safer and more supportive work environment.
