GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A vigil in honor of domestic violence victims was held in Grand Rapids Tuesday evening by the Domestic Violence Action Network.

“Unbroken Wings: A Vigil of Remembrance,” started at 5 p.m. Tuesday on the Blue bridge in downtown Grand Rapids. The annual event invited community members to gather in remembrance of domestic violence victims while learning more about how Domestic Violence impacts the larger community through interactive exhibits installed on the bridge.

Amanda Colegrove, coordinator of the West Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force, said trafficking can happen to anyone.

“Human trafficking [is when] somebody compels or forces another person to either perform some labor or service or commercial sexual act for their benefit,” Colegrove said.
