Providing 35 Years of Pathways to Hope

Hope can feel thin. Especially during uncertain times. And as a valued partner, we are reaching out with an update and to express gratitude for the support you’ve given to Safe Haven Ministries. Your generosity has played an important role in helping both victims and survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking find safety, healing and HOPE.

Last year, Safe Haven Ministries provided over 36,000 nights of safe shelter and housing. This data point is a story – it’s children laughing in their home and a mother washing dishes at her kitchen sink. A young adult safely sleeping in their own bed escaping abuse and threat of sleeping on the street.

Recently, an abrupt “pause” of all federal funding threatened to strip resources from children, disrupt stable housing, halt health care services and deny supportive services for survivors of violence and abuse. This misuse of power, interrupted Safe Haven’s access to reimbursement of tens of thousands of dollars of rent payments we make for people fleeing domestic violence each month. Judges are issuing stop orders, a new memo denied the pause, yet many other actions continue to be unleashed causing confusion and interruption of funding streams for people on the margins and our important services. Today our federal funding is in place yet uncertainty remains for the future.

Lament, tears, exhaustion, disbelief, anger, frustration… pick one or mixed all together, this is how many people in our neighborhood, schools, nonprofits and health care spaces are navigating the day by day.

We have a notion that when we build monuments, create art, and make spaces for reflection and truth telling we disrupt despair. We invite peacemaking that is not the absence of conflict but is the action and pursuit of justice and mercy and love.

Safe Haven Ministries has strength in a diversified funding stream. Your support along with other community donations, and wish list contributions are essential. Each year we need to raise $2 million along with our federal grant funds to provide essential services from a 24/7 crisis line to emergency safe shelter and transitional housing.

The mission of Safe Haven Ministries is 35 YEARS STRONG. We are confident that together with your committed support, safety and healing will continue to be the story for individuals and children fleeing abuse.

Join us in our 35th Year with a gift to wage HOPE, and continue the tremendous mission and vision to support survivors and prevent abuse.
